We've made it tradition to celebrate Halloween at my sister Elisa's house. Since she moved to Colorado this year :( we've started a new tradition. We had home made pizza for lunch at Oma's house, and then we went to abu's house for some polenta.

We feel so happy to live close to Oma, opa, abu and papa to share good food and fun with them!

If you couldn't guess we were going with the Toy story theme: Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the 3 eye'd alien. I'm proud to say I sewed Dewayne's vest, my chaps, and made some final touches to my cow girl shirt. Please, don't look too close. Thanks for being a good sport about this Dewayne! I love you!

This pic was taken at the ward halloween party. Sometimes I dislike working bc I miss out on fun! Kinda funny story; Isaac's buzz wings were a hit at the party. All the primary kids wanted to push the buttons that made his wings open and close. When his wings open they say, "buzz light year, to infinity and beyond!" When they close they say, "I am buzz light year, I come in peace." While walking they make swishing sounds, to similate flying. I also have to say that on the inside of the wing pack it says, "this toy does not fly." Isaac had to fight people off his wings. Other than that, Dewayne said the kids had a blast!

this last week caleb has been very consistent at sitting up with minimal toppling over. It's official, he's sitting up! He'll be 7 months tomorrow.

With a face like this how do you only choose 2 pictures to post?! If I could describe Caleb in one word it would be, "peace." I just love him so much! He is so amazing!

*Loves Isaac but begins to cry when he thinks he'll be hugged or kissed from big brother

*has just recently started babling
*Loves to eat solids more than drinking formula
*Can fit into 12 month old clothing because his is so tall.
*falls asleep on his own with his pacifire about 80% of the time
*spits up less than when he was born

Dewayne had his tonsils taken out on August 31st and did pretty well. He was eating hotdogs with in 48 hours. The doctor was very impressed with his progress.

This was Isaac's first plane ride. He did great! I don't think he understood the concept of being in the air.

funny story: We did some last minute rearranging in our suit cases and ended up with no diapers for Isaac during the plane ride, of course he pee's right through the diaper onto the airplane seat.

You say, "you should have changed him right before the plane ride," we did, the kid has an amazingly large bladder. Ever seen a toddler in an infant diaper?? too funny... "bikini bottoms." I couldn't stop laughing..

Ever tried changing a diaper in the airplane bathroom? You can't it's impossible, the room is way too small, so Isaac's standing half naked in the front of the plane screaming, yelling and trying to run away from me. I couldn't stop laughing! but really what else can you do but just laugh!

So I'm debating on leaving isaac in his "bikin bottoms" or putting his pee pee shorts back on, pee pee shorts won. I tried rinsing the shorts in the incredibley small sink. Isaac didn't seem to mind that his shorts were sopping wet.

Watch your step!! From the looks of the rust on the walls and the paint chippings, I would guess this train must have been close to 100 years old?!

I took this picture because not many places (other than our chapels) have a designated area for mom's to nurse their babies. Way to support breast feeding!

Isaac got a Thomas tatoo on his arm that unfortunately washed off the next day. He still keeps asking while pointing to his arm, "where's thomas?"

Ronell's graduation

Ronell graduated from BYU's MBA program the end of April, and will be working for Walmart in Arkansa. They are moving in June and we are happy for Ronell's accomplishments, but are sad to see them move away.

Bri is holding Teya who was barely 1 week old at the time. Talk about good timing! Ronell doesn't start his new job until July so he gets to really enjoy baby Teya, and help Bri get some sleep!

Isaac's BFF's are dropping like flies! Tyty moved last Saturday to Colorado, and Portia will be moving to Arkansa in June.

I've gotten this one a few times at work when I'm getting ready to put patients in a wheel chair, "we should be wheeling you around instead of me." or " you probably need this wheel chair more than I do."

here's my all time favorite, "I never got that big!"

And some times facial expressions say more than words. I get a lot of double takes with wide eyes. Apparently I'm unbearable to look at, so for the sake of others, let's have this baby!!

This morning is no different than usual. I wake up because I hear Isaac banging on his bedroom door. So half awake, half asleep I make it over to his room. I notice that his light is on in his bedroom, a new trick he recently learned. I open the door to find a happy boy running around his room in his onesie with the buttons undone, 2 pee puddles on his bed, and a dry diaper towards the head of the bed. Oh, but that's not all. As I'm standing in the door way dreading cleaning up his pee pee mess, I feel clay on the bottom of my feet, and the smell was not usual for the morning either. So I look down to find I'm stepping in poo!!! Isaac's poo!!! Being wide awake at this point I scan the room and find more trails he'd left behind. So this morning I will be cleaning carpets. You'd think we had an animal living in his room, I'm constantly cleaning up pee pee messes up there, and now poopy messes too. Note to self: create sleeper jammies that zip in the back instead of the front.

Really to be accurate, My sister in law Bri needs to be in this picture too. Each of us will have a baby before the beginning of May. Katy is 5 weeks a head of me, and I'm 5 weeks a head of Bri. It's weird seeing myself in pictures, I keep thinking that can't be me... the double chin, missing collar bones, and the very large nose. Looking on the bright side, my hair has gotten thicker and shinier, my siatic nerve hasn't been bothering me much...well that's about it. New complaints: I now wear a size 11 wide with in shoes, I hate sleeping b/c my arms go numb from laying on my side (hopefully heavenly father is not preparing me for a coliky infant), my back aches if I stand longer than 1o min's, still feeling naseas, and I'm getting pains in areas that are inappropriate to mention. All in all, it's nice that Isaac and work keep me busy, I'm sure my last 7 weeks will fly by.

Doesn't Katy look great!! She doesn't seem that big and she only has like 2 weeks left!

I think some one should have got a lump of coal Christmas morning?!! Isaac was way more interested in watching the Little Einsteins than opening his presents from Santa. We turned on his show and started opening mine and Dewayne's presents. He eventually wanted to open his presents. Maybe he'll be more excited about Christmas next year. Though I do need to mention that he just about lost it when I took down the Christmas tree. I had to finish taking it down when he was napping to keep him from freaking out. He'll periodically point to the corner where the tree was and whine saying, "chismas tee."

I have to say that my favorite part of ThanksGiving, besides the food and spending time with people you love the most, was the SHOPPING!! My sister has a killer outlet mall just 3 min's away from her house. The outlets open at 10pm on Thanks Giving night and stay open all night. I had to call it quits at 4am, but my sisters dared to be a part of the walmart madness and came home at 8am with a lot of goodies.

Isaac's new buddy on the trip, his cousin Marcus. Infact the morning after we got home Isaac woke up crying for Marcus, he is so good with little kids!

Isabella learned to walk just a few days before we came out. She didn't feel confident enough with out her stroller at the skate park.

Isaac thought the ramps at the skate park were slides.

Christian was baptazied while we were there. I'm so glad we didn't miss it! It really was an amazing experience.

Facts about Isaac:

Heigth: 97th percentile

Weight: 75th percentile

He is very polite saying “please” “thank you” and “Sorry mom” on a regular bases.

He sleeps through the night for the most part.

Every day he spits out new words and speaks in sentences instead of one word phrases, some of my favorites:

“Let’s go”

“I’m stuck”

“look, it’s a…”

“I see it.”

“Where are you”

"Daddy's home!"

And my very favorite:“I hold you mommy, I hold you.”

He is getting over his separation anxiety. When I leave for work he stands at the back door, waving bye, bye, and blows me kisses and says, “bye, bye mommy… bye, bye mommy... c-ya” Until he doesn’t see my car.

Thanks to his motivation and curiosity he is my little helper around the house. He likes to do the dishes, clean up spills, vacuum, and put clothes in and out of the washer and drier.

He can get into the car seat by himself and buckle himself half way in.

He is very loving, constantly giving out hugs and kisses, and he likes to hold hands.

He is obsessed with washing his hands!

His favorite toys are trains and cars

He tries really hard to share his toys.

I love you son!! I feel so blessed that you chose to be a part of our family. We learn love, patience and kindness from you every day.

After many cake mix boxes, the choo, choo train cake didn't turn out so bad. We had a small party for Isaac on his b-day and ate cake and icecream. It was loads of fun!

Dewayne and I got him this little tricycle. I'm sure it will be well worn before summer time if we get our basement finished soon.

Leave it up to moms to document important events! I had to steal these first 2 photos from my sisters blog. I had my own adventures at work that night: 3 Pediatric codes with one death, and quite a few belligerent drunks. It was a memorable night!

We've recently started a new tradition of spending Halloween at my sister, Elisa's, house every year. It's the best. Abu makes polenta, and Elisa makes her famous potato soup. After the dads take the kids trick-or-treating we all chow down on yummy food!

Is he not the cutest? Thanks for letting him borrow the Giraffe costume, Sandee! It was hard to rip the two of them apart. Isaac loooooved identifying Giraffe's facial features!

A girl or a boy?

I have no clue how to read sonograms, but this one was very obvious! To me this kind of looks like an alegator with a small tongue Isn't it amazing how only 10 weeks ago this baby looked like a gummy bear?! Now he (yes...I just gave it away) has eyes, ears, nose, lips, chest, arms, legs, feet, and all the other body parts or a little boy.

I was so certain we were going to have a little girl. In fact I'm constantly reminding myself it's a boy. I was just at costco the other day and saw the cutests little tutu's. After contemplating wether the price was worth the purchase I thought, "wait....I'm having a boy, and he is definitely not going to be wearing that!"

We are so excited that Isaac will have a little brother to talk about cars with, and to play ball with. I know Isaac will be such a good big brother because he has such a tender spot in his heart for those he loves.

This was the best break for me. Isaac could get dirty in the sand, chase the seaguls, and it was okay, no scolding involved. Loved it!!

The Saturday before my birthday, my family celebrated my birthday and my brother, Adrian's, birthday. Apparantley Adrian (man standing to the left of me) doesn't like "spit cake" (he's covering Ty's mouth with his large hands."

This is me and Isaac on my actual birthday. We all got the Flu! The best part about being sick is all the snuggles and loves I get from Isaac. I have to say, Yikes!!! I look like a 40 year old with out my make up on. I was disapointed to find out that I was turning 27 this year and not 26. Anyone loose track of their age too?

We are SOOOO Grateful for Isaac's little buddy Ty Guy! Ty puts up with a lot: unshared toys, pushing, and stealing from Isaac. Yet he doesn't let it interfere with their friendship. Now that's a true buddy. Some mommy (Elisa) gets stars in my book for teaching a little boy patience.

We LOVE going to the andrews house! Who wouldn't love good bar-b-que, swimming and volleyball? They know how to P-A-R-TAY! WhatI love most about the Andrews is when you get together after a year of being MIA, you can just pick up were you left off, it feels as if you shared every day together for the last year. Thanks for all the great Bar-B-ques, we love you guys!

HOT, HOT, HOT. Did I mention it felt like 150 degrees while at the 4th of july parade?Fire works at Abu's house after a fun day with the BIG BOUNCE TOY with the water slide. It was a big hit we did it again in September!

Oma bought this little stuffed animal, "Cookie Monster" for Isaac yesterday, which he LOVES! It got me thinking about the first time dewayne made our bed after we were married...He assembled all his 6 childhood stuffed animals infront of our pillows. Of course I said, "ah, no, those gotta go." I should have known he'd fight for them, he kept them all those years, got made fun of by his college roommates, and of course I teased him too...but it didn't matter, those stuffies meant something to him. 3 weeks ago we were cleaning out the basement, and we came across his "childhood friends," I somehome convinced hom to throw half of them away.

I love that Isaac has a fascination with his "blankey" and his "Cookie Monster." I'll be sad when the day comes that he feels he's too "old for that stuff", but let's hope it's sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the remarks on parenting. After a few days of much thought over what many of you had said, i came to the conclusion, "so he's not perfect, no big deal." I thought about the type of mother i want to be, and the type of relationship i want to have with isaac and distance is not what i want. Yesturday I tried listening to

him more, and played with him more to let him know that his needs were important to me, and though he had his moments, he felt like a totally different toddler! (we'll see how today goes). I realized why i was so frustrated with him...i felt a pressure for him to be perfect. Because i wanted isaac to be such a well behaved boy, i was treating him like a machine that i could manipulate and not like a little boy who was still trying to discover his world. Thanks again for all the comments!

how do i describe this era of life? alot of hair pulling, yelling, and runing yet no doing. i can't beleive some of the phrases that come out of my mouth like, "don't poop in the bath" "don't throw your blanket in the toilet" "we don't drink from the toilet." I'm getting very creative in different positions for isaac to be in while changing his diaper-How do moms have energy to go work out after a long day of cardio with a toddler?
today while feeding isaac lunch i had had it! He was being sooo naughty, and i swear it was JUST BECAUSE he knew it would irritate me. Everything i ask him to do, he does the exact opposite...we've started doing time outs which help a little bit, but it gets so exhausting!! and it's not like i can say, "i'm just not going to change your diaper today", or, "I'm just not going to feed you today." How do you get through the terrible two's?

never loose hope in those who failed highschool biology

dewayne and i have been car hunting for a while now. We were at forrest motors in provo a few days ago. This one lady kept starring at me, and finally comes up to me and says, "i know you from some where." we'd finally discovered that she was my 9th grade biology teacher from highschool, Mrs. Francis. I said, "oh ya, i totally remeber you now. I failed your biology class in 9th grade...oddly enough i'm a nurse now."

I often times think, "how did i ever get here?" I hated science and math in highschool, and got a 15 on my ACT the first time and a 14 the second time. Two lesson's learned...one, believe in your self, you can truly do anything you put your mind to! Two, never let anyone make you believe something is too hard!

Isaac had his first hair cut ever! I wish i would have taken a before and after picture, b/c his hair was embarresingly fluffy!! HE did real good too, as long as he had snacks, he sat so still so good. Thanks Katy for the amazing hair cut, it would have been a disaster with out you!

So I entered isaac into a baby contest for the Utah Valley magazine (per my mother's request), and he didn't win, nor make it to the top 3 kids. Here are the pics i entered-seriously who could say no to the big brown eyes, with that curly (what i call circus) hair? And his smile makes me want to pinch his cheeks. I love my Isaac!

after hearing many excellent reviews, we decided to try the bombahouse on new years day. Sorry to those of you who are fans, but it didn't make it to the top 5 fav restaurants.

This pic was taken really fast (sorry for dewayne's overexposed face). Ronell, Bri, Dewayne and I decided to visit Keegan up at Primary Childrens hospital. The sunset was amazing! I couldn't resist but to take a pic and dewayne just happened to be in the way. Doesn't he smile so handsomely on whim(?)!

So this week Dewayne and i decided it was time to say good bye to Isaac's best friend since birth, the "paci." Just our luck Isaac gets a productive cough and fever this weekend. I could tell he wasn't feeling good when he wanted me rock him to sleep last night (something he hasn't let me do since he was 5 months old). This afternoon he fell asleep in opa's arms as opa was reading aloud trying to study for an exam. Hope he gets over this bug soon, we could all use a good nights rest.

This is my nephew palmer. His idea of play is organizing his toys. This is palmer picking up each camera one by one, taking a picture, setting the camera down very strategically and starting the whole process all over again. funny yes, but amazing that he started reading when he was 3 years old!

Isaac LOVES oma. Dewayne's mom has discovered that the way to Isaac's heart is FOOD! Dewaynes mom moved from North Carolina and is currenlty living with us. Ths far, I love it! there are hardly ever dishes in the sink, when I come home from work dinner is already made (she is a very good cook by the way), she loves watching isaac, and she has lots of love to give!

The passing of Keegan Jay Watson...

The lasts few posts have been about Keegan, I forgot to mention that Keegan is my nephew...Jason is Dewayne's little brother.

Yesturday a blod clot was found in Keegans brain, the prognosis was very poor. Jason and Katy made the very difficult decision to take Keegan off life support. As his parents were holding him for the first time he passed on to live with Heavenly Father. His work on earth is done, he has a greater need and calling in Heaven.

My Thoughts...
Now is the time to be strong for now is the time to be truly tested and tried. It's amazing how you can love some one so much when you've only known that person for a few days, we are going to miss Keegan so much! He has changed our lives, and opened our eyes. We are so grateful for the knowledge we have of the gospel, we are so grateful for the generous blessing of eternal life from our Father in Heaven, and we are so grateful to our savior for his attonement as he has placed eternal life within our grasp. Keegan Jay Watson was born via emergency c-section on december 29. At birth he weighed 9lbs 11 oz. He was born with a syndrome called hydrops- a build up of fluid in his abdominal cavity and thoracic cavity. Keegan is on a ventilator (breathing machine), receiving food through a tube that goes into his tummy, and is on multiple medications for his heart so it can beat strong. He is very sick and is receiving care in the NICU at Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC. Katy (Keegan's mom) is recovering well from her C-section. We love Keagan and pray and hope that he will get well soon-lots of love to Keegan! Your prayers would be greatly appreciated for Keegan, Jason, and Katy during this challenging time.

Looking back over the last year, the one memory that sticks out to me the most is immediately when Isaac came out of the womb-I said, "oh...it's finally over! (I had a horrible pregnancy by the way)" then my doc says, "no...this is only the beginning, being a parent is one of the hardest things you'll ever do." man oh man was my doc right. Despite the many sacrifices Dewayne and I made for isaac(especially sleep and learning to be patient), and despite dewaynes, "I WILL sell you on ebay" jokes, we wouldn't trade isaac for the world. The one thing dewayne and I are so grateful for is how easily Isaac makes us smile. We love you, son. Happy Birthday!!

Oh...by the way, the pic where Isaac is crying, is because his cat like reflexes were to fast for me to hold back his hand so he lietrally put the candle out with his finger-prime example of learning things the hard way.

On Monday I was sitting around and thinking about life in general. I started thinking about this elderly gentlemen Elli and I met in Rancho Cucamonga, CA 3 summers ago. He was from South America and had this really thick accent. We always saw him sitting alone at church so one sunday we got there a little late and on this occasion we sat beside him. Elli started to talk to him and we found out his wife had barely passed away. As he told us about her he started to get teary eyed. Then he turned to his left and patted the seat beside and began to sob. As he tried to regain his composure he said, through his tears, "She always sat right here by my side." I couldn't help but think of how much she must have ment to him and what a wonderful relationship they must have had. Isaac and I are so blessed to have Elli in our lives. We often wonder what we could have done to get such a great mommy and wife. We couldn't imagine a life without her, she is truely the love of our lives.We love you.

Aren't these jammy's so cute? I put them on Isaac last night and when I came home from work he was still in them (I'm sure we've all had days like this)...besides the point. I don't know wether to be scared or excited...Isaac is walking, yes, 10 months old and walking! He walks like a mummy... so appropriate for Halloween don't you think? Since this new stage in life Dewayne and I have been taking this baby proofing business very seriously. So if anyone has any tips or suggestions we'd love to hear them!

So sorry to post another slide show, blogger won't let me only post pic's...so you get to see our entire trip to Colorado. So...I learned my lesson, 7 hours in a car with issac is the most i will travel. thank heavens for my parents who took him back home with them on the plane...though not so much of a releif at the time...any one seen my dad drive? Anyone seen my dad drive to the airport at 4am?

we all had a blast! we went to Elitch's (similar to lagoon-but better)on Friday and Isabella was blessed on Sunday. We stayed at my sisters house-which is totally awesome... anyhow, enjoy!

on September 23 Dewayne and I went to the most amazing concert with Ronell and Bri and had the most amazing time! It was awesome!! I took like a billion pictures and am only allowed to post 50 pictures at a time through the slide show. Isaac's Surgery !!!

So Isaac had his surgery last Friday. He got six stitches and has his foot all wrapped up. The poor guy is not suppose to be on his foot too much but it's so hard for him to stay still. It's funny but every time I take him to the store people give me a dirty look as if I had dropped my child or something. He gets his stitches removed next Monday.

I just can't stand it sometimes!

Stephanie had a wonderful idea to have the three "amigas" reunite. We left our babies and husbands behind and relived our Ricks College years by attending education week in Rexburg, Idaho! We stayed in the doorms, it was awesome!! From the moment we checked into the doorms, it totally felt like we had never left. It was so great feeling like we were in college again. I often forgot that I was mother and wife. This weekend was just what I needed:laughter, spiritual experiences, and of course, shopping! Thanks for an amazing weekend Stephanie and Carissa, let's do it again!

Congrats to Shem & Teresa who will be getting married this Saturday. I have very many fond memories of these two. Shem, Teresa and I were in the same classes for the last 2 and a half years of my college career. Both Teresa and Shem are working at Utah Valley hospital and are amazing nurses!! I'm so happy for you guys! Thanks for the venting sessions and study groups, they truly helped me get through BYU's nursing program! I wish you guys the best of luck! And Shem, remeber...the key to a very successful marriage is...Teresa is always right!-Just teasing...it really is to pick your battles, and pray together every night!

American Idols concert in Archie, USA (as Chikezie would put it)

My super awesome sister-in-law invited me to go to the American Idols concert with her! It was amazing! No comparison to the last concert I went to (Smashing Pumpkins-sorry Elisa)when I was in 7th grade. The crowd went insane during David Archuleta's act. It was by far the best concert I have ever been too! Thanks for an amazing night Bri!!

If anyone knows Isaac they would agree that this is Isaac's classic, "deer in headlights look." When Isaac was a few months old my neice Hallie would tell me quite frequently, "your baby looks scared..." Isaac can also display other emotions too. Recenlty he has learned that different tones of voice mean different things. When we say, Isaac, NO! the lower lip begins to pucker and quiver, his eyes water and he cry's as though you have really hurt his feelings. I try so hard not to laugh!

After a rough night shift (my first shift on the new floor at Timp) I came home and slept for a few hours and woke up to brunch in bed with a card that Dewayne had made himself on the computer that says, "Every day is mothers day". Isaac loves to take showers. He likes to stare at the shower head and try to grab the water. With that said, Dewayne and I thought he would really enjoy the spray toys at the swimming pool...as you can see he hated them. When we would get inches to the water he'd start screaming. With me taking baby steps into the water and holding Isaac (facing me...he's scream when I faced him towards the water) I finally got him into the pool. He was so relaxed that he fell asleep in my arms while I held him in the water-I love to snuggle with my baby! later on Dewayne miraculously got him use to the water, and after that there was a splishin' and a splashin' of fun! He never did come to enjoy any of the spray toys...oh well, maybe next time.

Rapunzel cuts her hair

Isaac had a fascination with my hair! He would pull at it and shove it in to his mouth all the time!!! I got so sick of it, so I chopped my hair. So thanks to Sandee's (My sister in law) referral I went to Suggestions and had another amazing hair cut. My beautician cut 10 inches off so that I could donate it to "locks of love."
So Isaac still pulls and tugs at my hair, but this is as short as I go!! Maybe he likes hair so much b/c he doesn't have any. Dewayne's exact words, "It looks like Isaac just got done doing a round of chemo." Speaking of hair, the portion of hair that Isaac does have is at the front of his head. After wondering if he would ever get curly hair, this past week he has grown a little curly-Q- on the patch of hair that he does have. It's so stinkin' cute!! But that's news for another post. We'll wait another week and see if it is visible for the camera to pick up.

I've been Tagged!

Here goes nothing...

1. I always have to have the last bite. When ever my husband and I are sharing a dessert or sharing a meal I always have to have the last bite.

2. I'm a total procrastinator, and not a planner at all. I often think how in the world did I ever graduated from Nursing school? My latest procrastination is our graduation invites-I plan on sending them out today...graduation is in like a week.

3. I loose just about everything!!! My latest loss was my really expensive palmpilot that Dewayne got me for my birthday. What engagement ring??? Yup lost that too. Oh, don't tell Dewayne but the 2nd engagment ring set that Dewayne got me for our 5 year anniversary..haven't seen it in a while. Jewlery is the worst!! I just can't hold onto it for some reason...maybe I should try Sandee's ice tray idea.

4. I go through phases were it's just too much work to get ready for the day, and I just go natural for a while. Poor Dewayne, one of our latest arguments was that I never put makeup on, or do my hair anymore when we leave the house. He told me, "how would you feel if I looked really scruffy when we go out...It's embaressing." I guess I can't use the excuse of just having a baby considering Isaac is almost 5 months old.

5. I hate traffic or crowds! Which is why I have never been to a BYU football game, or the stadium of fire and I've practically lived in Utah all my life. Waiting in lines and in the car for hours really just ruins it for me. This last valentines day we celebrated it on Feb.15. It was great!! We went to Tucanos... they got us right in, no wait at all!! We practically had the theater all to ourselves when we went to see "Step up 2." We decided to officialy make Feb.15 valentines day.

6. This is a weird one but I'm going to throw this out there anyway... I like to pull off cotton like stuff from blankets and sweaters, twine it in my fingers and rub it across my face. Can you tell I'm related to Carolina Townsend?

The two men in my life

It's about time I updated our blog. Aren't my two boys so darling? Dewayne is doing a fantastic job playing the role of Mr. mom this past month and a half since I have been working. He really is doing a fantastic job. Because I am out of the loop, Dewayne frequently trains me on how to take care of Isaac. Sometimes I totally feel like Dewayne is the mom because he can read Isaac so much better than I can.

As for me I have been working at Timpanogos hospital for the past month and a half. I really enjoy having something of my own...I like to think of it as my get away time.

Isaac is really growing! We went through a really rough patch were Isaac would wake up every hour at night. God bless Dr. Pfeffer, a sleep specialist and pulmonologist. Since she prescribed some more meds for reflux Isaac has been sleeping much better, not "sleeping through the night" better...Isaac can sleep for 3 hours at night instead of 1-2. Isaac's latest fasination is his toes. He LOVES to put them in his mouth.

Dewayne will be graduating with a Bachelors in Business management in about two weeks. It has been a really, really, really long road for him, and I am so proud of him. I know that he will succeed in his career with business... he's so smart about all that stuff.

A Bummpy Road

Where do I start? When Isaac was around 4 weeks old he started making funny noises. Me being a worried first time mom of course I take him to his pediatrician to see if anything was wrong. After a referal to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor Isaac was diagnosed with Laryngomalacia at about 6 weeks of age. It's a fancy name for "floppy epiglottis." Because his airway is floppy, when Isaac breaths in his airway colapses just a bit. The colapse is enough to cause Isaac to sound like Darth Vader with a cold-especially when he is sleeping and eating. The doc says that there is not much they can do (unless it get's really bad), and that Isaac has to wait it out. Babies with Laryngomalacia usually grow out of this condition between 12-18 months. My poor little guy!! Lately he has not been sleeping well. It's so sad....I can tell he is trying so hard to sleep but can't because his musical breathing is so loud that he wakes himself up. Him and his papa have snorring contests at night. He has had many restless nights and naps. We were disappointed at his 2 month check up to discover that he has only gained about 2 pounds since he was born. Isaac's pediatrician was worried and told us to feed him more and to see him in about two weeks. Isaac's Ear Nose and Throat Doc was also disappointed with his weight gain and sleeping issues, that he had us do a pulse ox test over night and to do a laryngobronchoscopy. So Isaac is headed to the operating room on February 21 to see if he as any other respiratory abnormalities causing him to not sleep well, and eat well. Overall, I think Isaac is a champ for having to deal with so much. He is a very happy boy when he is well rested. Your prayers for him would be greatly appreciated at this time.

As for me, I have come to the conclusion that we are in for a bummpy road. Though in the beginning before I knew how sick Isaac really was I was mad at the world. I wanted a good baby who would sleep well day and night, and who could be easily put to sleep, and who could be easily read. Okay, let's face it, I wanted Isaac to be like baby Ty ty (Elisa's- my older sister's baby)! As the Lord has humbled me I have come to realize that though Isaac is not as perfect as I would like him to be he is a child of God...And I have been choosen to guide him through this world. Every night I thank Heavenly Father for a little boy who has taught me more about myself than any other person. Isaac has taught me to be more loving, more patient, and more grateful. Realizing how special Isaac is to me makes it easy to endure those endless nights, and to endure the bouts of endless crying. Isaac is my baby, and I love him!!

Bath Time

Bath time is not a fun time at our house. From the first day we've been home from the hospital Isaac screams bloody murder once his little bum hits the luke warm water. It is obviously a tramatizing (?)expereince for him. Thank goodness oma (Donna-Dewaynes mom) was there to help us get through Isaacs very first bath. I figured I should cherish the moment when Isaac didn't cry at bath time, but once I got my camera out Isaac began to get very vocal-screaming. I constantly have to keep telling him (and it's mostly to keep myself sane), "everybody has to shower-even baby Isaac."

At least one of us (Dewayne) loves bath time.

A Special Tribute

I wanted to thank 4 particular people for helping me through a long delivery-Mom, Donna (Dewayne's mom), my older sister Elisa, and my amazing and supportive husband, Dewayne,(who needs to "count faster!!!"). Thank you for your love and support during a very challenging time! I have to particularly thank my older sister Elisa for dropping everything (even her kids)to be with me when I broke down in tears at the possibility of having a C-section. I told her that she is welcome to be at every single one of my deliveries. She should seriously consider a career as a doula or a midwife- the hand massages and feet massages (though I couldn't feel those very well) were very relaxing! And lets not forget my awesome mother-in-law who traveled 2,000 miles to be a part of this little miracle who we call Isaac.

A New Beginning

Yes, we have finally started our family blog. For starters we had our very first baby. Isaac Benjamin Hugh was born on December 4, 2007 @ 7:16pm. He weighed 8lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long. Labor was long...very long! I started having mild contractions on sunday, they picked up later that night. I thought I was in labor so I went to the hospital and of course they sent me home b/c I wasn't progressing fast enough. So I got my morphine shot and went on my way. That was nice- I could actually sleep. Later that night my contractions started up again and bad!! Dewayne wouldn't let me go back to the hospital because my contractions weren't 3 min's apart ( a criteria the nurse had set for me to return making sure that I was in real labor). I figured if I was going to be up all night with contractions every 4 min's apart I might as well make my time useful, so I finished typing a 10 page paper for school. Around 2am my contractions felt very unbareable (still only 4 min's apart-not 3), so I coerced my mom to take me to the hospital to get another morphine shot. little to my surprise I was in true labor-dilated to a 4, and an hour later at a 5 (Dewayne was not so happy that I went to the hospital with out him- but he wouldn't let me go because my contractions were 4min's apart and not 3). I received my epidural @ about 5am- and man, what a relief! About 13 hours later I pushed for an hour and still no baby. Doctor Judd had to use forceps and magically wiggled him out-suprisingly Isaac doesn't have one scar on his face. Recovering feels a little bit slow, and sleep is pretty much nonexistant at this point, but life is good! Dewayne is so supportive and is taking on the new daddy role like a pro. I couldn't have asked for a better partner on this new and exciting adventure.
